The Youths of Assin through their Youth Groups: Assin Youth Association and Our Home Assin wish to draw the attention of certain concerned issues about Ghana Immigration Service enlistment processes over the years to the GIS command.

Having observed with keen interest recent immigration enlistment procedures, we the youths of Assin deem it expedient enough to point out and petition the GIS command to revert to previous recruitment process which hitherto have be changed.

We the citizens of Assin have witnessed tremendous improved economic activities during the days when enlistments were done at the Assin Foso Immigration Academy and Training School. At least during the enlistment period our folks experienced improved sales in foods and other commodities, the hospitality industry also improved, transportation system (taxi services) burgeoned tremendously and the town itself experienced social and economic revamp at least for the said period.

All these aforementioned boons have eluded us over the years when enlistments have been conducted outside Assin Foso. The benefit of having the Academy and Training School on our land is now a thing of the past.

We therefore wish to humbly petition GIS and all the powers that be to reconsider bringing back this exercise (enlistment) to its original home. At least we can also share in the benefits if not all.

Assin is now growing and GIS enlistments is among the numerous factors that can trigger her rapid growth. We have enough facilities to accommodate any number of individuals seeking enlistment in Assin, notably amongst them are:

  • A lot of financial institutions are available to offer quality services to individuals.

  • All the telecommunication networks are fully operational including three Radio Stations

  • We also boast of one of the biggest Melcom Shops in the country and other host of retail shops to cater for all individuals.

  • With transportation, Assin Foso is a nodal town that provides easy access to travelers

We are always thankful and appreciative for the pride the Academy and Training School have brought us, and the high status we have enjoyed as a budding town but bringing the Enlistment processes back to Assin Foso will be the icing on the cake for us.

We look forward to the usual positive cooperation between us.

Thank you.

Signed
