PETITION TO AFUTUAKWA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL ON CORRUPT AND FRAUDULENT CHARGES LEVELED AGAINST NANA KYEREMANTEN KROMPE II (KONTIHENE OF AFUTUAKWA TRADITIONAL AREA)
BY ASSIN YOUTH ASSOCIATION AND (ASSIN OUR HOME GROUP)
Nananom, it has come to the notice of the Youth and citizens of Afutuakwaman of Assin Foso that some corrupt and fraudulent charges have been leveled against Nana Kontihene of Afutuakwa Traditional Area could bring the Traditional Area into disrepute.
We the Youth and citizens therefore demand immediate response from Nananom of Afutuakwaman about these charges which we think may retard development and progress in Assin – Afutuakwa Traditional Area.
The Youth of Assinman over the years have been playing vital roles in the growth and development of Afutuakwaman but with the latest developments from the Kontihene, we are scared such behaviours and actions could cause serious mistrust from the entire subjects.
As we all know the Kontihene serves a father, leader and also as a role model to us and all these charges may have negative effect on us the Youth and Assinman in general.
In the past certain behaviours of Nana Kontihene have not been the best and gone unhide, especially an incident wherehe publicly fought a butcher with a cutlass and had him wounded during the final funeral rites of the late Chief of Foso Habitat, Mr. Adu-Bediako Charles and also beaten a subject publicly without any tangible reason among others but currently, the charges below leveled against him are of grave concern to us the Youth:
100 bags of cement from the Municipal Assembly for development in Afutuakwaman have been used by Nana Kontihene for his personal gains at the expense of Afutuakwaman. Sourced from the signed voucher from the District Assembly Stores on behalf of Afutuakwaman.
Protocol slots given by Ghana Immigration Service to natives who qualify to be enlisted have been sold by Nana Kontihene and his cronies to outsiders without the knowledge of chiefs and elders of Afutuakwa Traditional Area who initially as a group fought for such benefit. Currently people from Nana’s deals are being trained as part of the current crop of recruits at GIS – Assin Foso
Nana is charged to have been using his position to annex lands and properties of families and individuals all to enrich himself. E.g. The land being occupied by Ghana Immigration Service – Assin Foso which belongs to an Asakyiri family of Assin Foso and Assin Dompim.
The sad aspect of the whole issue is that Nana Kontihene not respecting the Chiefs and Elders of Afutuakwa Traditional Council took the Acting President the Omanhemaa to the Regional House of Chiefs all in the name of being given the Acting Presidency. This we think could have been dealt with at the Area level other than washing our dirty linen in public. This character we think doesn’t warrant such position.
The above charges are indeed a serious indictment on the throne of the Kontihene and the Traditional Area as a whole and could breed mistrust and serious retrogression of the Assin State especially Afutuakwa Traditional Area.
We therefore demand that these matters be dealt with immediately to save Afutuakwaman else the Youth and the entire citizens will assume Nananom are in bed with Nana Kontihene and also supports his fraudulent actions.
We the Youth and citizens shall advise ourselves as soon as possible if nothing is done as soon as possible.
